Advanced Visualization Service Laboratory (AVSL)
An extraordinary ongoing activity of CCT Advanced Visualization Service is the "Visualization at LSU" project, envisioned by CCT director Dr. Joel Tohline. This project entitles to the creation of movie pieces in 4k (4x times HD) resolution to showcase the research excellence at LSU in the form of visualization. We have established the first group of working relationship for this movie-production activity, to showcase: (randomly listed)
  • Microscale fluid flow simulations of dispersion, solute and particle transport through porous materials. Research group: Dr. Karsten Thompson, and Timothy Thibodeaux, Ryan Al-Marhoun, Department of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Clint Willson, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

  • Flow and sediment of Mississippi River Delta over a hundred years. Research group: Dr. Clint Willson, and Erol Karadogan, Angela New, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

  • Stellar jet streams produced as stars or other stellar objects form and merge. Research group: Dr. Jan Staff, Department of Physics & Astronomy.

  • Assessment of the effectiveness of flame retardant in polymer blends with synchrotron X-ray tomograpy. Research group: Dr. Leslie Bulter, Department of Chemistry.

  • The spatial and temporal dynamics of high-pressure hydrogen gas absorption into millimeter-sized metal grains. Research group: Dr. Leslie Bulter, and Bradley Wood, Department of Chemistry.
